Note : The BC general election of 1953 was the second and last election to use a preferential ballot or alternative vote system. Reporting of valid/invalid votes and ballots is hampered by the available data. Due to the slate system used for multi-member ridings, within these ridings there is no data on rejected ballots, only for rejected votes. Both the number of valid votes and ballots cast correspond to the highest number of votes for any ballot, not the cumulative votes/ballots used.
