Party Founding : A CCF candidate ran in the provincial election of 1936 although the party was not formally founded until 1939 as Fédération du Commonwealth Coopératif (FCC), under which name it ran until 1952. CCF is used to identify both versions of the party in this database. The party name was changed to Parti social démocratique (PSD) in 1955 and was reestablished as the Nouveau Parti démocratique du Québec in 1963.
